Refugees: ordered to move

A refugee plays in smoke from a fire where food is being prepared along the R28 near Krugersdorp on Monday, July 28 2008. Refugees were ordered to load their belongings into police trucks during a police operation later in the day. The refugees who camped out along the R28 outside Lindela Repatriation Centre after being removed from the Glenanda Shelter a week ago, were taken to police stations. They could face charges of illegally occupying land and endangering traffic as well as their own lives. Women and children were taken to a family care centre. The refugees had been given until Monday to move from the area, where they have been living since being taken to the Home Affairs' Lindela Centre, which detains and deports people found to be in the country illegally.
